Will Tariff Charges price Quartz products out of reach for the Middle-Income Consumer Market? Solid Surface products are an excellent alternative.

By now you have probably heard about the tariff charges that will be assigned to any quartz coming out of China. This is happening now and will only increase over the next few months. Imports from China will become more expensive, and US demand will grow for quartz slabs produced by higher cost alternative sources, including US plants, raising average price levels.

While this tariff will slow engineered stone countertop sales, to some degree, in the middle-income consumer market, this isn’t necessarily bad news for countertop options. Solid surface materials will be a perfect fit to help offset the expected rise in Quartz prices. Solid Surface manufactures have come out with many amazing colors that fit todays’ top color trends.

Solid Surface materials keep their good looks and survive the impact nicks and cuts that can occur with daily wear and tear. Stains are minimal and can be removed by the home owner with ease. Also, having your solid surface countertops surfaced buffed every 5-10 years will keep your tops looking brand new forever.
